The Big Day

My first impression of this video is that they are advertising the Volkswagen car for the man to get to the wedding on time to protest his love for the woman getting married to another man who isn't him. They placed obstacles in the way of the man driving the car in order for him to be late for the part of the wedding where you can interject on the two getting married.

Who: Ansel, Stacy, Jake, The father.
What: Ansel is trying to make it on time to the wedding and not be late
When: Before the wedding on a cloudy day
Where: In a car going to the Church where the wedding is being held.
Why: To make sure Jake doesn't marry Stacy.
How: Speed up in his new Volkswagen car that they are advertising.

     Racing along the long winding road, Ansel Adams uses his new Volkswagen car to make up lost time to make it to his best friend's wedding. Stacy, fiddling with her ring and her bridesmaids surrounding her, making sure everything is in the perfect place. Waiting for her que, Stacy racks her brain of the million ways her wedding could go wrong.
 Ansel pushes gown on the gas pedal to try and slow down time to make it to his best friends wedding, but gets caught in the traffic that comes with rainy day weather. Stacy now walking down the aisle, wondering where Ansel could be but focuses her attention on the love of her life, Jake.
 Ansel barely makes it on time.
"I was trying to go as fast as I could without running into anything or anyone." Ansel said.
Ansel makes it just in the nick of time, but has Stacy worried to death on his whereabouts.
"Trying to focus on your wedding with someone very close to you not there, is very hard but I'm glad he managed to be present." Stacy said.
Stacy took months on planning her big day and explains how nervous she was on the day of her wedding.
"Putting in so much time and effort into something makes you want to have everything to go perfectly but I had to learn how to relax and know that everything is going to be okay." Stacy said.
Stacy said the wedding went smoothly except for when Ansel showed up late.

Found Objects/ Graffiti

Atop of Castle Hill, I found the sky line beautiful. Capturing the essence of  the graffiti of Castle Hill, where people can express themselves and have it not be considered a crime.

I found this plastic bag from HEB in a tree and I found it interesting because plastic bags are no longer manufactured for Austin anymore.

Final Exam Preview Assignment

Using the second link, I watched a video on basic IMovie tricks. During the video, the woman talked about how to import video and images to IMovie program. She also talked about how she can make special effects happen to the video.
      In the first link, it lead me to Apple website and taught me how to use basic features on the program. It told me how to edit clips and add music and voiceovers. I found it interesting how to put a video clip on top of another which is really cool.

I already knew how to do basic things but i mainly knew how to import edit clips and export videos.

I didn't know how to put a video on top of another and I learned that on the website that lead me to Apple website.

I'm concerned that the flow of the video won't be there and it will look choppy.

I can complete take pictures for the video early because I have my own camera at home.

I am thinking about taking my camera along with a friend of mine going to a dance competition and take pictures of the whole process.

Baltimore Riots

Being a photographer during the Baltimore riot, I would be nervous to be in the middle of everything but I feel that being able to capture those real moments and sharing them with the world is important. I see a civilian pouring milk into a pepper spray victim's eyes to help sooth the pain. With the death of a loved person, riots are bound to happen due to the cause of the death. With the police being involved in the death, people see more of a reason to take action on the scene. 

Portfolio Analysis

 Runner up:
Alyssa Schukar
The general focus was the stories of the people she took a shot of.
Most of the pictures had the same lens and didn't get up close and personal.
Some of the pictures have ben done better before.
Some stories weren't that clear.
Judges liked the Haiti picture and what was captured.
They enjoyed the girl who fell over the hurdles and that they can see the opponents legs next to her.
Nice graphic with the kids in the stairway.
My overall thoughts are that Alyssa's pictures are original and don't really have a connection with the viewer besides a couple of photos.
Runner up:
Travis Haughton
Stories
Pictures were too tight and needed to be looser.
Words in pictures took away from the photo.
If you see a halo around a person after a lot of photoshop, that's not good.
Nice sports pictures.
Picture of girl drawing a cross was nice but needed a little more.
My impression of this photographer is that some of his pictures are really nice and good to see but some of the pictures you can't tell what the story is and are just pointless.
Runner up:
Josh Birnbaum
The general focus was stories of the people in wheelchairs.
The photo story did not have a strong beginning photo to draw the viewer in.
Lots of original photos.
Did not capture that "moment."
Nice sports pictures were taken.
Some moments that were captured of the the young kids having fun were nice.
My overall opinion was mostly like the judges, the beginning photos were light a fluffy, but so much more can be captured in the photos of the people in the wheelchairs and not have a original photo.
Dustin Snipes:
The judges loved how the photographer was always right in the middle of the action to capture the moment of the people in the shot. How everyone was doing something the photos was nice for the judges to see. I saw that the photos were all action shots and they were nicely taken and you could feel that suspension in the pictures. However, I did not enjoy the photos from birds eye view of the swimmers and the football players. I thought it was kind of bland.
Recap:
The judges had to narrow down the number of portfolios and choose the one who best told a story and who captured the right moments in the right time.  The winner had 15strong photos and none were bland.
Individual Images:
Part 4: I agree that the story with the Greyhounds because you could see the connection between the breeder and the dogs. It was a story worth seeing and I really liked the composition of the photos.
I disagree with the curling photo story. I thought the pictures were well taken but I thought the story was tasteless and original.
