Websites

face
I chose this photo as my favorite because of how clean it turned out. The rules of photography that I see are simplicity because there is nothing in the background to distract from the main subject. Jenna Martin took this photo.
On the website it showed Jenna Martin's 2015 New Years resolutions through photos and words.
I learned that I should try to be more organized with my school work this semester and here on out.
The site described the the photos that were being posted.

6 Types of photos every photographer should know how to make:
6photos_4
I picked this photo as my favorite because of the way the exposer of the colors came out. I think this is a fantastic photo. The main rule of photography that I see in this photo is leading lines with the water leading you to somewhere new. This photo is Infrared Dream by zeitfaenger.at.
I learned that to make a fake tilt and shit photo without an expensive lens, you have to manually focus the lens yourself to achieve the photo. I would be able to use this in your class later when assigned a shoot and we have to take pictures of something close to the ground or something. No this did not expand my knowledge of an Adobe computer program.

Killer Time lapse:
In the video I saw a time lapse of different popular places in Rio from day to night.
Joe Carpa made the video.
From this video Joe Carpa had to go through many obstacles to produce this time lapse video of Rio. He spent weeks trying to figure out the music to go along with the video to match the content that was being shown.
I learned that you need a intervalometer to make a time lapse.

I picked this photo because of the calmness that I feel when looking at this photograph. The rule of photography that I see in this photo is the simplicity. With the background being almost completely blank because of the clouds, it creates a great photo. Rachel Sussman took this photograph.
On the website I saw pictures of the oldest living things on the planet which I thought was pretty extravagant. Seeing the things that have not been touched by the modern world was weird to say the least. The site was just a combination of all of her works.

In the tutorial I learned why it is good to take more photos this year and to post them on a blog of some sort and taking different types of photos.
I can use this in this class at some point when assigned a shoot but this website mainly gears towards outside of class.  No this did not expose me to new Adobe computer program.

The Year 2014

I enjoy looking at this photo because it shows how the world has evolved into being more accepting to the people who don't necessarily do the "norm."
This photo is one of my favorites because I have always loved watching football with my family and The New York Giants with Eli Manning as the quarterback makes them one of my favorite teams to cheer on.
I chose this photo as one of my favorites because the description reminded me of how fortunate we are by not having to worry about where the next makeshift is.
The best song of 2014 in my opinion is "Habits" by Tove Lo because the controversy of this song was very interesting to me. People say that this song is inappropriate to be on the radio but I personally love this song because of the tune. The message isn't really all that great but I have undeniably listened to this song to the point where it becomes annoying.

The best movie of 2014 in my opinion 22 Jump Street because the movie was hilarious and laughed the hardest while watching this movie. Plus seeing Channing Tatum in a movie was also a bonus. 21 Jump street was funny bit I personally think the second one is better. That is why I chose it to be my favorite movie of 2014.

Ebola was probably the most important news story of 2014. The reason that it makes the top story is because of the importance of curing the disease. When news broke out that it had moved into the United States, everyone went ballistic, making it the top story.

The most important person of the year 2014 is Jennifer Lawrence because she is an outstanding actress and has impress millions of people with her talents on screen. In my opinion, she has an amazing personality and tries not to let the fame get to her making her able to relate to all of the viewers that are not famous. Therefore, making her the most important person of 2014.

I will always remember is holiday break because I received my first camera which was very exciting. I enjoyed spending time with my family and friends.
My New Years resolutions is to make good friend choices. I haven't had the best of luck with that so I am trying to make it my goal to meet better people.
I am looking forward to learning how to drive on the road safely and get closer to getting my license next year.

Final Review

Dec. 5, 2014. A NASA Orion capsule on top of a Delta rocket lifts off on its first unmanned orbital test flight from Complex 37 B at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at Cape Canaveral, Fla.
With NASA launching their Orion capsule apart of the Delta rocket, the first unmanned test flight takes a nail-biting start into the air. Moments before the launch, millions of tests are being ran through for the hundredth check before launching time.
Dec. 3, 2014. People lie on the middle of the West Side Highway in New York during a protest after it was announced that the New York City police officer involved in the death of Eric Garner was not indicted. A grand jury cleared the officer in the videotaped chokehold death of Garner, an unarmed black man, who had been stopped on suspicion of selling loose, untaxed cigarettes.
As people lay on the side of the highway with thoughts racing through their mind of what is going to happen next, the police shine a threatening bright light on them. With the death of Eric Garner, New York went into an antagonizing protest when the people found out the police officer who was heavily involved, was not indicted.   Source

1. Rule of thirds: Using the frame on the camera and putting the subject of the photo in the corners of the frame or in the direct center.
2. Balancing Elements: Balance the weight of the subject by including another object of lesser importance to fill the space.
3. Leading Lines: Each type of line can enhance the photo's composition.
4. Symmetry and Patterns (repetition): Introduces tension and a focal point to the scene.
5. Viewpoint: Where you place the angle of the camera; High above, down at ground level, from the side, from the back, etc.
6. Background: A plain and unobtrusive background and does not distract from the subject.
7. Create depth: Creating layers by having objects in the foreground , middle ground, and background.
8. Framing: Having a more focused image which draws your eye naturally to the main point of interest.
9. Cropping: Cropping tight around the subject to get the viewer's attention.
10. Mergers and avoiding them: You can make your subject look different by having mergers and it can mess up the photo.

Aperture: Adjusted to control the amount of light that is being let into the photo.
Shutter speed: Controls the exposure and the amount of time the camera's shutter is open and how much light reaches the film in the exposure time.
ISO: The sensitivity to light.

It is not acceptable to completely change a person's appearance just to be "accepted" into what we call a perfect world when we all know that we are far from perfect. People try to manipulate young women into thinking that this is the way that we have to look in order to be "beautiful."

Environmental: Portrait of the subject in their usual environment.
Self: A portrait of self done by oneself.
Casual: Portrait of a person in a posed position.

Depth of Field: The distance between the nearest and farthest objects in a scene that appear acceptably sharp in an image.

Exposure: Amount of light reaching a photographic film determined by shutter speed and aperture.
Focal Length: The distance in mm from the optical center of the lens to the focal point.

Early: Modeled them after the covers of books. Had only the title and publication data. There were no descriptive words telling what would be found inside the magazine.

Poster: Oversized magazines looked as if they were printed to be framed and hung on the wall.
Married type: Cover lines are used to draw readers inside in a more definite way than the cover art could accomplish.
Forest of Words: Some covers of this period contain cover lines that are actually larger than the name of the magazine.

Dove Evolution video:
1. The changes made in the first video on the model was she got her make-up and hair done then took the photo shoot. Now having the pictures, they went into photo shop and slimmed her body down, made her eyes bigger, elongated her neck, and raised her cheek and eyebrow bones.

Body Evolution:
2. Changes made:
eyes were enlarged
made skin lighter
slimmed her body
made legs longer
raised her eyebrows
cleared her skin
slimmed her face
highlighted her face

Crazy photo shop skills!
Changes:
3. The model was totally changed into a different person by making her super skinny
"growing" her hair
changed her face shape
made legs longer

Answers to questions:
4. No I do not think it is acceptable to completely change a person's appearance just to be "accepted" into what we call a perfect world when we all know that we are far from perfect. People try to manipulate young women into thinking that this is the way that we have to look in order to be "beautiful."
5. I definitely agree that in other countries photoshop is used more than others whether it be because of body shape or facial features but each country has a different perception of beauty and photoshop may be used more or less to achieve their type of beauty.
6. Changes like clearing the skin and doing other minor changes are okay but when to take a women or man and completely change them into a different person, like changing their body shape and face shape, then it becomes a problem.
7. Fashion photography has very different differences next to photojournalism because photojournalism is more in the moment and "this is what is happening now" where Fashion photography has a lot of behind the scenes that people don't normally see when companies post the picture days or weeks after they took the photo.
8. Each type of photography has a different relationship to reality whether it being manipulating reality or giving people reality the way it is. Some places try to change the reality that is happening to not make it see that bad.
9. Showing us these videos has allowed us to see what really goes into making a magazine cover, picture, or any other publishing company and not just taking a photo and publishing it.
10. All the videos are women because we as women somehow always have to "please" men by having this perfect body and change ourselves just to fit into their picture of a "perfect girl" when men on the other hand are not subjected to change.
